Surviving another lockdown
The British workforce once again finds itself in the middle of another national lockdown. Now add to that home schooling for most parents and the cold, dark winter weather.
Some of the things that we would normally do to destress, such as see friends or go to the gym are not currently feasible, so, what else can we do to look after ourselves during our workday?
We’ve compiled some tips that are helping the team here at Mobius get through lockdown.
Find a morning routine that works for you and stick to it – whether that means getting up first thing and exercising straight away or taking it slightly easier and having a coffee and breakfast and a slower start to your day.
Don’t forget, it is equally as important that when you finish your workday to log off and stop checking your emails.
Make a dedicated workspace for yourself away from distractions - whether that is a room you can close the door to or just your kitchen table.
It is important to have proper breaks throughout the day too - even just 5 to 10 minutes of short breaks each hour can really help with productivity.
Stay connected with your team – working from home may make people feel more isolated, so make sure you take the time to talk to your team over Teams or Zoom – seeing a friendly face can make all the difference!
Even though the weather is awful right now try and make some time to get outside for some fresh air each day away from your screen – not only will it clear your mind, but it will also help with your productivity when you come back to work.
And last but by no means least; do not watch the news constantly. Try to limit the time you spend watching, reading, or listening to coverage of the pandemic. Use trustworthy sources and fact check information from social media or other people.
